NFVCB Warns Against Unapproved Release of Music Videos, Skits, and Films

—

The National Films and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) has issued a warning that releasing music videos, skits, and films without its approval is illegal.

The NFVCB uses a classification system to assign age ratings and content advisories to audiovisual content. This helps families make informed viewing choices and protects children from inappropriate material.

Shaibu Husseini, the NFVCB Director General, recently announced in an interview with DAILY POST that the board’s classification requirements now include music videos and skits.

Husseini warned content creators against distributing unclassified material. He stated, “It is an offense to distribute or exhibit any film, video content, musical videos, and skits on any platform without approval from the National Film and Video Censors Board.”

He also mentioned that the board is working with security agencies to track down and prosecute anyone involved in distributing unclassified content.

Additionally, the board condemned the promotion and distribution of same-sex content on the internet, emphasizing that it is illegal to publicly exhibit same-sex relationships in Nigeria.
