NFF suspends centre referee for controversial decision

Nigeria Professional Football League centre referee, Abdulmalik Abdumalik, has been suspended by the Nigeria Football Federation following a controversial decision.

Abdumalik officiated the match between Katsina United and Abia Warriors yesterday, which ended in a 2-2 draw. During extra time, Abdumalik awarded a goal to the visitors, much to the disagreement of the home team’s coaching staff. After a heated altercation and demands for a goal review, Abdumalik ultimately reversed the decision..

The Refereeing Development Unit has deemed Abdumalik’s actions disruptive and his willingness to compromise the outcome unacceptable. He has been instructed to step down until further notice.
