JUST IN: NFF Appoints Finidi George as Super Eagles Head Coach

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has officially appointed Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

Enyimba FC, where George previously managed, also extends congratulations on his appointment.

George, a former Ajax and Super Eagles winger, has been selected following the NFF board’s approval of the Technical and Development Committee’s recommendation.

Having served as an assistant coach under Jose Peseiro, George recently acted as caretaker coach during friendly matches against Ghana and Mali.

Although opinions on his suitability vary among Nigerians, George’s track record includes leading Enyimba to a league title in his first season as manager.

As a player, George achieved significant success with Ajax, including winning the UEFA Champions League. He also represented Nigeria internationally, earning 62 caps and scoring 6 goals.

George’s first task as head coach will be overseeing the Super Eagles’ upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.
