NFF Agrees To Normalisation Committee As CAF, FIFA Delegates Leave Nigeria

Stakeholders in Nigerian football have reportedly agreed to establish a normalisation committee to oversee the Nigeria Football Federation for a period not exceeding one year.

The agreement followed two days of meetings between CAF and FIFA delegates and key football stakeholders in Abuja aimed at resolving the leadership crisis in the NFF.

The News Chronicle reports that the committee is expected to prepare the ground for a new NFF administration acceptable to the various stakeholders. Its composition is expected to become clearer on Friday.

The CAF and FIFA mission held discussions with NFF officials, state FA chairmen and congress members following the mass resignation of the NFF board, including former president Ibrahim Gusau and secretary general Mohammed Sanusi.

Stakeholders had disagreed over whether to establish a normalisation committee or caretaker arrangement, as well as whether the new leadership should come from within or outside the federation.

However, sources said the parties eventually agreed to support whichever arrangement would help restore stability and reposition Nigerian football.

The normalisation committee is expected to determine when the next NFF election will take place after addressing the federation’s outstanding issues.
