Reports indicate that troops of the Nigerian military have apprehended a suspected high-profile bandit leader, Kachalla Auta, along with his wife in Gombe State following their escape from Plateau State.
According to the reports, the arrest was carried out during a coordinated security operation aimed at tracking fleeing criminal elements across state lines. Kachalla Auta is believed to be a prominent figure among bandit groups operating in parts of northern Nigeria.
Security sources revealed that the suspect and his wife had fled Plateau State amid intensified military offensives targeting armed groups in the region. Their movement was reportedly monitored by intelligence operatives, leading to their eventual capture in Gombe.
While authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the development, the arrest is seen as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle bandit networks and restore security in affected communities.
Investigations are said to be ongoing, with security agencies working to extract further intelligence that could lead to the arrest of other members of the criminal network.
