Several soldiers were reportedly killed after suspected ISWAP terrorists attacked a military base in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State on Thursday morning.
Security sources said the insurgents stormed the base with over 10 gun trucks, forcing troops to flee during the surprise assault.
The attackers allegedly killed many soldiers, injured others, including the camp commander, Lieutenant Colonel Manu, and carted away military vehicles, weapons, and ammunition.
The attack is the latest in a series of deadly assaults on military formations in northeastern Nigeria, where Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents continue to target security forces despite military claims of major successes against terrorism.
