Newcastle United’s defender Sven Botman has been left devastated after encountering a long-term injury, expressed his emotions through a heartfelt letter to the club’s fans.

The Dutch defender, whose season has abruptly come to an end, will undergo surgery next week after scans revealed damage to his ACL during a recent match. The recovery period is estimated to be between six to nine months.

Botman took to Instagram to share his gratitude for the support received and vows to return stronger than ever. Despite the setback, he remains committed to Newcastle United and promises to stand by the team throughout his rehabilitation:

“It is difficult to accept that surgery is out of the question, after fighting so hard to avoid this step. The support and love I have already received means a lot to me. I won’t be able to do what I love the most for a while, but after my knee problems recently,I know I will come out of this period as a better player. My team Newcastle united remain the most important and I will continue to support you every day.

We are a family. ”

The 22-year-old has been an integral part of the squad, having played in all nine Premier League games this year, with a total of 22 appearances across various competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists for the club.
