New Ohanaeze Chief Warns, IPOB Leader against Inflammable Utterances

—

New President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor George Obizor, has warned the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, against making utterances that are harming Ndigbo, saying the Igbo ethic nation has some delicate decisions to take ahead of 2023.

Speaking in Enugu on Thursday, Obiozor said the issue of realizing Biafra out of Nigeria was beyond the capacity of Kanu, the IPOB leader.

While declaring thatthe IPOB leader “is one of us’’, he however advised him to always listen to Igbo leaders, and desist from some wild outburst that are capable of endangering the lives of Igbos both at home and in the Diaspora.

Insisting, Obiozor who was a one-time Nigerian envoy to the United States and Israel, said that “issues of Biafra were above, and beyond Kanu’s capacity to decide.

According to him, the Igbo nation is not at war with Nigeria and has nothing pending before any institutional authority that demands a separate existence from Africa’s most populous country.

Adding, he said their mutual and collective responsibilities are sacred and must be respected, insisting that Kanu must therefore listen because he is one of them since they are all in this dilemma together.

“We must understand that what the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, meant by the bones shall rise again did not mean conflict, violence and war, assuring that security of Ndigbo irrespective of where they are residing will be their priority of his administration.

Obiozor said his decision to contest for the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo was a decision not based on self-aggrandisement, personal ambition or self-promotion, but purely for service, adding that the Igbo dilemma in Nigeria has finally come home at last hence, the need for the people to take critical, even delicate decisions.
