Never Seen Anyone Like Him at That Age! -Kroos Crowns Yamal

Football legend Toni Kroos has heaped glowing praise on Spain’s teenage prodigy, Lamine Yamal, describing the 17-year-old as a once-in-a-generation talent whose consistency and composure under pressure defy his age.

Kroos, who recently hung up his boots after a glittering career, compared Yamal’s rapid rise to his own breakthrough at Bayern Munich, but admitted the Barcelona starlet is playing on an entirely different level.

“Lamine Yamal? I also made it to Bayern’s first team when I was 17, but I wasn’t at his level, and that’s something incredible,” Kroos said.

The German midfielder, known for his precision on the pitch and sharp eye for talent, underlined what sets Yamal apart—his unwavering consistency and mental fortitude in high-stakes moments.

“I’ve never seen anyone like him at that age. I’m talking about his consistency in performance because the natural talent is obvious,” Kroos continued. “What makes me think this kid is special is his constant desire to show up on the pitch. He always stands out in difficult moments, and that’s not normal at 17.”

Yamal, who has already dazzled fans for two consecutive seasons, earned further accolades from Kroos for his standout 2024/25 campaign.

“He’s been a star for two seasons, and this past one was incredible. I’ve never seen a kid like him before.”

While lauding Yamal’s meteoric rise, Kroos issued a gentle reminder that success in football is a long-haul journey, not a flash in the pan.

“I always say a career isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon, so we’ll see what happens in the next five to ten years,” he said. “Will he keep developing, and how will he deal with everything that comes from outside the world of football? Success doesn’t only depend on performance on the pitch, but also on what happens off it. You have to know how to handle all aspects of life.”
