NEMA Launches Operation Eagle Eye on Major Borno Highways

—

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Maiduguri Operations Office, has launched Operation Eagle Eye along major highways in Borno State to improve road safety and emergency response during periods of heavy travel.
The operation covers key routes including the Maiduguri–Kano, Maiduguri–Bama, and Maiduguri–Baga highways.
It is part of NEMA’s annual effort to prevent road accidents and ensure quick response to emergencies.
Speaking during the flag-off, NEMA officials said the initiative is focused on early detection of risks, fast rescue operations, and public awareness to reduce road traffic crashes and their effects.
They stressed the need for motorists to drive safely, obey traffic rules, and cooperate with emergency and security agencies.
Under Operation Eagle Eye, NEMA will carry out regular patrols, deploy standby rescue teams, engage communities through awareness campaigns, and work closely with other stakeholders to provide timely help to road users in distress.
The Maiduguri Operations Office of NEMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property.
Motorists and passengers were advised to remain alert, avoid speeding, reduce night travel when possible, and report emergencies promptly through official channels.
NEMA said Operation Eagle Eye will continue across the identified highways to ensure safer travel and improved emergency response throughout Borno State.
