The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has provided relief materials to communities affected by windstorm and flooding in Kaba Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State.
The intervention followed the approval of NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, who authorized the release of essential items to support victims of the disaster.
A four-member team from the agency’s Abuja Operations Office was deployed to oversee the exercise, ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to standard procedures.
The distribution took place on April 25, 2026, at Ekinrin Adde Community in Ijumu Local Government Area.
NEMA collaborated with the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA), security agencies, local authorities, and community representatives to verify beneficiaries and ensure fair distribution.
Items distributed included food supplies such as rice, beans, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, seasoning cubes, and iodized salt. Building materials like cement, nails, and roofing sheets were also provided to help affected residents rebuild their homes.
Beneficiaries and community leaders expressed gratitude to NEMA and the Federal Government for the timely support, noting that the assistance would help ease the impact of the disaster.
The agency said the exercise achieved its objective of delivering prompt humanitarian aid to affected communities.
