NECO Boss Wushishi Elected Vice-President of African Assessment Body

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Dantani Wushishi, has been elected Vice-President of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA).
The development was announced by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, following the conclusion of the association’s 42nd Conference in Arusha, Tanzania.
Nigeria also secured the hosting rights for the 2027 AEAA Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Abuja from August 16 to 20, 2027.
Wushishi’s election follows his previous service on the AEAA Executive Council, where he represented the West African sub-region.

Since assuming office as NECO Registrar in 2021, Wushishi has overseen reforms aimed at modernising examination administration, expanding the council’s technological infrastructure and strengthening its international presence.

NECO examinations are currently conducted in eight foreign countries, reflecting the council’s growing presence in the international examination community.
The 2027 AEAA Conference is expected to bring together policymakers, researchers, examination administrators and education experts from across Africa to deliberate on emerging trends, challenges and innovations in educational assessment.
