NDLEA Raids Lekki Drug Mansion, Seizes 2,326kg Cannabis Worth N5.8bn

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested three persons with disabilities for alleged drug trafficking in separate operations across Anambra and Kwara states, while also uncovering a N5.8 billion stash of illicit drugs in Lekki, Lagos.
The agency disclosed that a 60-year-old suspect, Romanus Nwabara, was among those arrested during intelligence-led operations. NDLEA operatives tracked him to Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State, on May 6, where he was allegedly found in possession of 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets.
In another raid at Ogbunike, Anambra State, officers arrested 25-year-old Amos Kenneth on May 7. Recovered from him were 160.3 grams of Tramadol (225mg and 100mg), 80 Diazepam pills, 38.23 grams of Exol 5, and 176.93 grams of skunk.
Similarly, NDLEA operatives in Kwara State intercepted a commercial vehicle along Bode Saadu on May 8 and arrested another PWD, Usman Salisu, after allegedly discovering 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a school bag.
In a major operation in Lagos, NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit raided a mansion in Lekki Phase 1 allegedly used as a drug stash house.
Officers recovered 4,000 parcels of “Loud,” a strong strain of imported cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms and valued at over N5.8 billion. Two Mercedes-Benz buses and packaging materials used for retail drug distribution were also seized.
Elsewhere, Emmanuel Osita Okeke, 38, was arrested in Nyanya-Karu, Nasarawa State, with 129 kilograms of skunk, while NDLEA officers along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State intercepted a commuter bus transporting 766 kilograms of skunk concealed in 76 jumbo bags. Three suspects  Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa  were arrested in connection with the seizure.
The agency also busted a makeshift skuchies production factory in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos, arresting two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, allegedly caught producing the illicit substance. NDLEA said 270 litres of skuchies and 106 grams of Tramadol were recovered during the raid.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers involved in the operations and urged commands nationwide to sustain the momentum in combating drug trafficking and intensifying anti-drug sensitization campaigns.
