The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently announced that they stopped a vehicle carrying 40 blocks of cannabis from Geidam LGA of Yobe State to Niger Republic.
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesperson, said the drugs were headed to the Gagamari area of Niger Republic. They arrested Mala Tijjani, the person driving the vehicle.
In another operation, NDLEA agents intercepted 42 cartons containing 8,400 bottles of codeine syrup weighing 1,260 kilograms from a driver on Katsina road in Kaduna on March 5th.
The NDLEA statement explained that in Yobe state, they stopped a car going to Gagamari in Niger Republic.
The driver, Alhaji Mala Tijjani, 28, was supposed to deliver 40 blocks of cannabis weighing 24.5kg to another dealer.
Additionally, in Kano state, Nura Yusuf, 35, was caught with 62kg of cannabis, and Abubakar Sani, 40, was nabbed with 244 bottles of codeine syrup.
Mohammad Alkali, 28, was found with 49,800 pills of tramadol along the Kano-Maiduguri road.
In Borno state, a 70-year-old man, Mallam Mai Gemu Adam, and a 65-year-old woman, Yamama Musa, were arrested for drug trafficking along with two others, Abubakar Ya’u, 24, and Babagana Abubakar Ali, 28, in Maiduguri and Gamboru-Ngala respectively. They were found with 32,000 ampoules of tramadol injection.
In a separate incident, a Nigerian man found out through DNA testing that none of his three children were biologically his.
He decided to do a medical check for his children, including DNA testing, and discovered they didn’t share his genetic lineage.
This revelation left him shattered, and his wife, whose actions have been questioned, has reportedly been unresponsive. The man is dealing with the emotional fallout with support from his loved ones.
