NDLEA Arrests two Suspects in Borno with 171 kilograms of cannabis

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has informed the public that its officers successfully apprehended two Suspects carrying 171 kilograms of cannabis in Ngamdu, situated in the Kaga local government area of Borno state, Nigeria. 

The agency took action to address the situation, highlighting its commitment to maintaining law and order concerning drug-related issues within the country.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of NDLEA in curbing illegal drug activities, contributing to the overall safety and well-being of the community in Borno state.

Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy for NDLEA, revealed this information in a statement issued on Sunday.

He highlighted that the arrest was a part of the agency’s renewed commitment in the ongoing battle against drug-related activities in the country.

The apprehended suspects, 29-year-old Bukar Ali and 20-year-old Abacha Alhaji Fantami, were taken into custody last Tuesday by the operatives of Borno state command while en route to Maiduguri.

“In Borno state, NDLEA officers on Tuesday, December 12, apprehended Bukar Ali, 29, and Abacha Alhaji Fantami, 20, with 171kg of cannabis at Ngamdu, Kaga LGA. The statement read”.

In another incident on Wednesday, December 13, at Tsafe checkpoint, Zamfara state, three suspects – Jamilu Haruna, 22; Mohammed Hassan, 23; and Aminu Umar, 50 – were captured with 57kg of cannabis on their way to Zurumi, a village known as a bandits’ enclave,” stated the spokesperson.

Femi Babafemi commended the officers and men of the agency for their arrests and seizures nationwide during the week under review.

The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retired), urged the agency’s officers to increase their efforts in combating drug cartels, especially with the approaching yuletide season.

He emphasized the importance of striking a balance by continuing their initiatives to reduce the demand for drugs.

In his encouragement, General Marwa stressed the significance of maintaining a vigilant stance during the festive period to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
