In a major security success, officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested three suspects with 1,125 rounds of 7.25mm live ammunition on the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway.
The suspects were stopped during a routine checkpoint operation. When officers searched their vehicle, they found the ammunition hidden inside.

The discovery has raised new concerns about the growing movement of illegal weapons across the northern region, a route already known for criminal activities.
According to security sources, early investigations indicate that the ammunition was being transported to an unknown group, suggesting possible links to criminal gangs or terrorist groups operating in the area.
The suspects are now in custody, and the NDLEA, working with other security agencies, has begun a deeper investigation to uncover where the ammunition came from and who it was meant for.
This interception comes at a time when insecurity is rising across northern Nigeria, making the recovery an important step in the fight against illegal arms.
