NDA Invasion: Shine Your Eyes

—

The game is up. The centre wobbles  and the links are gradually caving in.

Each day comes with its unique twist and surprises. Nothing surprises  us anymore. Our sensitivity, brutally defied and our emotions lost by the orgies we see daily .

Blood is no more sacred. Like water that runs from a tap, invoking no emotions , so is the sight of drips of blood from the throat of  brutally killed innocent Nigerians daily.

The story is the same . From East to South ,from West to North, the masses cry, and their humanity lost while their leaders, the gatekeepers and custodians of the nation get consumed in the whole mess.

It is obvious we are trapped. Trapped in a maze with no possible outlet for safety.

We urge the soldiers to remain calm and law abiding and go about their legitimate duty without the fear of molestation as normalcy will be restored at the affected area as we the civilians are on top of the matter to bring the perpetrators to book(sic)

The above was a tweet by someone. It has  already gone viral on various social media platforms. It might sound comical and pedestrian, however, in it lies a huge lesson  wrapped in sarcasm.

The Government has failed us! The military dared and defiled, from where will our help come from? Aka gbajie Igwe ujo atuwa osisi( When bare hand breaks iron, fear grips trees)

The truth, though sad,  is,  our safety is not in any military hard wares neither is it in any tough talk and shambolic intelligence gathering.

Recent events both at  Aso Rock and other supposedly  no dare militarized areas have shown how weak and porous we are as a nation. “They don see us finish” what else is remaining?

Safety is of the Lord. In vain  do watchmen keep watch if the Lord does not guard the city. Does this ring bell? Does it create any alarm consciousness?

Does it make sense as a way to go and explore? Or does it sound like a broken record forb religious sensationalists who feed on its  opium?

Have churches, Mosques etc been shielded  from this shame of desecration? Are  pastors, Imams etc spared and hallowed in this drama of invasion and defilement?

Who is even spared from this  unholy act of killing, kidnapping, etc?  You? Me? Politicians? Military institutions ?

Our life is sacred. But by day it diminishes like a vapour under the gaze of a morning sun.

We retire in the evening, unsure of the night and its surprises. We wake by his grace still unsure of our safety in this web of insecurity. Even our shadows become a threat, frightening us to be unsafe in  the midst of our loved ones. “Ama onye Ana  Eze”( Who is to be trusted)

“Ama onye Ana Eze” is our challenge. The very bane of the worsening security  situation of our Nation.

Our security institutions have been infiltrated. Until this is addressed the journey towards a safe nation becomes a challenge, an illusion,  frustrating any genuine act to curb insecurity in the nation, more like trying to fill a basket with water.

Our hope is built on nothingness! Our safety  not in any man’ strategy. Shine your eyes!

This is not a time to play politics. The time for blind support of ones political gods and heroes even in their Inenities are gone.

Nigerians, this is time to get sense. We have been fooled by those who called themselves leaders.

They come! Grandstand and make empty promises, throwing out crumps and bones for us to struggle and kill ourselves while their life and that of their family members are spiced up with exquisiteness.

Nigerians! Get sense!

They come with religion and tribal sentiments to champion their political course.

We fall for it, holding one anothers’ jugular in anger , arguing and creating enemies, while they hobnob, leaving us the masses to kill ourselves for their political  ambitions.

Nigerians! Get sense!

They sponsor insecurity, fan its embers, make fortune out of it, build empires, expand their frontiers and  hoodwink us eventually  into believing their empty threats of dealing with them.

The truth is, what is eating the wood is in the wood.

Our leaders are not yet ready to stop this insecurity. Anytime they are ready and sincere, insecurity will not see the next day.

Insecurity a golden hen, laying golden eggs for our leaders. Ha na enyo  isi ha ana puta( As they peep, their heads are seen)

Nigerian Shine your eyes! “Fa ncha bu otu ife afu”( They are one and the same, birds of a feather that flock together)
