NCAA to strip private aircraft owners’ licenses to operate commercial aircraft

Private jet owners who possess a Permit for Non-Commercial flying (PNCF) are being warned by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to immediately stop conducting commercial flying activities or risk severe penalties, including having their permit revoked.

According to Michael Achimug, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, owners of PNCF are not allowed to utilize their aircraft for commercial operations or charter services that involve the carriage of passengers, freight, or mail for hire or reward.

Achimugu said in a statement on Wednesday that the NCAA “will not hesitate to initiate enforcement actions against any PNCF holder found guilty of illegal operations with suspension, withdrawal, or revocation of their Permit for Non-Commercial flight, in line with Section 32 (4) of the Civil Aviation Act 2022.”

Achimugu also went on to add that, “the public is hereby notified that it is illegal to engage PNCF holders for commercial purposes.”

According to him, NCAA representatives have also been stationed at airport private wings and General Aviation Terminals (GAT) to keep an eye on the PNCF holders’ operations.

“The NCAA would like to reiterate that it will not tolerate any infractions of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 and will persist in enforcing strict adherence by implementing suitable penalties,” he continued.
