NCAA Sanctions VeryDarkMan & Mr Jollof After Airport Fight

Two Nigerian social media figures, Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, known as Mr Jollof, were removed from a United Nigeria Airlines flight on 17 November 2025 after a physical fight during boarding at the Asaba International Airport, Delta State.

United Nigeria Airlines said the incident happened while passengers were entering Flight UN0523 to Lagos.

In its written statement, the airline said, “An altercation occurred between two passengers, identified as Martins Vincent Otse ‘VeryDarkman’ and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi ‘Mr Jollof’, during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport.”

The airline added that its staff acted immediately, stating, “Crew members intervened in line with international safety rules.”

Both men were taken off the aircraft and handed over to security officers. The airline confirmed, “Following the disturbance, both individuals were deboarded and handed over to airport security.”

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) also confirmed the disruption. The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection described the behaviour as unsafe, saying, “There is no tolerance for unruly behaviour aboard an aircraft. Both individuals will face the full strength of the law.”
He added, “The actions of both men put the safety of all other passengers and the crew at risk.”

A media aide to the Delta State Government, Mr Ossai Success, reported that they were arrested after being removed from the aircraft. In a statement on his Facebook page, he wrote, “They have been unboarded and arrested. I am really disappointed in both of them for fighting inside an aircraft.”

A video recorded by passengers showing the fight later spread online. After the incident, Mr Otse posted a comment on his Facebook page, writing, “I don chop Jollof father for inside the plane. He bite me.”

The NCAA said it is awaiting a full report from the airline and airport staff before releasing additional details.
