NBTE Disbands Computer Science Programmes In Nig Polytechnics 

The National Board for Technical Education NBTE has disbanded the department of Computer Science in Nigeria Polytechnics.

In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Board Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, the board noted that there would no longer be admissions into the Higher National Diploma in Computer Science beginning from the 2024/2025 academic session.

Bugaje who revealed that the development is aimed at strategically positioning polytechnic graduates for national development, added that students who have already been given admission in the last session in the programme have from now to 2025 to phase out.

He stated that henceforth, admissions into the Computer Science programme for the 2024/2025 would be given in four specialized areas namely;

HND Artificial Intelligence,

HND Networking and Cloud Computing,

HND Software and Web Development and

HND Cyber Crime and Data Protection.
