National Anthem Flop: Mercy Isoyip Apologizes to Nigerians

—

Mercy Isoyip, better known by her stage name Descushiel, is a Nigerian actress and singer. She has expressed regret to the Nigerian public and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for wrongly reciting the national anthem during the Imo State Conference for Senior Police Officers.

Descushiel, who donned a police costume for the conference, became well-known on Monday after mispronouncing the national anthem during the ceremony.

Due to Descushiel’s attire, some Nigerians assumed she was a police officer, and as a result, they ridiculed her on social media.

However, Descushiel expressed her regret for her errors in a video posted to her Instagram account on Tuesday.

Her caption reads:

I sincerely apologize for the error I made during the recital of the National Anthem, I know such errors are inexcusable.

My good people of our country, please accept my apology, as well as my assurance that I will be more careful in the future to prevent such incidents from recurring. God bless the Nigerian police 👮‍♀️ force God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬 🙏❤️💐

Although Nigerians have continued to drag her on the internet, this apology video will go a long way in calming them down as anyone can make make mistake.
