In the post, Bassey asked his followers to pray for the couple as they approach their wedding day. He also invited anyone encouraged by Chike’s ministry to offer support directly. “You may reach out and be a blessing to him directly as the Lord leads you,” he wrote.

The announcement quickly drew attention online. Within hours, congratulatory messages filled the comment section of the post and spread across social media platforms including X, formerly known as Twitter. One follower wrote, “Congratulations to Brother Chike.” Another described him as “our favourite” dancer from the sessions.

Brother Chike became known through his energetic dancing during the Hallelujah Challenge, a nightly online praise and worship gathering that Bassey leads. Videos of his dancing at the altar have circulated widely on TikTok and Instagram over the past two years, drawing viewers from Nigeria, Kenya, and beyond. During one session, Bassey praised him from the stage, saying, “Chike, son of God, born of God, ready to dance, ready to soar.”

Bassey founded the Hallelujah Challenge in June 2017. The first edition ran from June 1 to June 30 of that year and began as a live praise session Bassey streamed from his living room on Instagram. The event has since grown into a recurring international gathering, held for several weeks at a time, usually late at night. The 2025 edition ran from February 10 to March 1.

Nathaniel Bassey was born on August 27, 1981, in Lagos. He is a Nigerian gospel musician, trumpeter, and pastor. He leads The Oasis Lagos, a youth church under the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He has been married to Sarah Bassey since 2013.
