Workers under the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have initiated an indefinite nationwide strike.

The industrial action stems from unresolved issues regarding staff promotions, salaries, and overall welfare.

Following multiple discussions with NAFDAC management, the union expressed dissatisfaction with the failure to reach favorable resolutions.

The decision to strike was made after the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued on September 20, 2024.

Starting October 7, 2024, employees across all NAFDAC offices have been instructed to halt their services, with the strike expected to continue until all demands outlined by the union are met.

Workers were also advised to clear their personal belongings from their offices, and strict compliance with the strike directive is being enforced by SSASCGOC State and Zonal Coordinators.

The statement read in part:

“After careful deliberation, Congress unanimously resolved to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike across all NAFDAC formations, commencing Monday, 7th October 2024.

“In view of the foregoing, you are hereby directed to down tools by withdrawing all your services in compliance with the strike action.”
