Nigeria’s drug regulator, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, has warned the public over the recall of MR.7 SUPER 700000 capsules, a product widely promoted online as a male enhancement supplement.
The agency revealed in a safety notice that testing showed the product includes undisclosed pharmaceutical drugs; hence, it is being pulled.
The capsules were discovered to include active ingredients normally used in erectile dysfunction prescription medicines—sildenafil and tadalafil.
Because it is promoted as a dietary supplement without adequate medical control, NAFDAC said that the existence of these ingredients renders the product hazardous and forbidden. Health professionals advise that ingesting such hidden elements could have major hazards, especially for people with underlying illnesses.
The News Chronicle gathered that the secret compounds could interact sharply with heart-related medicines, therefore causing a steep and life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
The agency has told all retailers, consumers, and distributors to stop selling and using the product immediately and to return any remaining inventory to the nearest NAFDAC branch. It further advised Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any questionable or degraded medical products.
As it steps up efforts to stop the spread of dangerous and altered health products nationally, this most recent caution complements a string of recent notices from the regulator.
