NAF Airstrikes Neutralise Senior Terrorists in Sambisa Axis

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai, has carried out a successful air interdiction mission against terrorist elements in the Yuwe general area of the Sambisa axis in Borno State.

The early-morning strike, conducted on February 28, 2026, followed confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that identified structures serving as terrorist commanders’ hideouts and logistics warehouses.

In a statement obtained by The News Chronicle on Monday, NAF spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the operation was intelligence-driven and executed with precision.

According to him, NAF strike elements accurately engaged and destroyed the validated targets, dismantling critical terrorist infrastructure in the area.

Post strike assessments, supported by credible intelligence sources, confirmed the neutralisation of several high-value operatives, including senior commanders and fighters coordinating hostile activities within the theatre.

Ejodame noted that the strikes significantly disrupted the terrorists’ command and control structure and degraded their logistics network, limiting their operational capacity in the region. He added that the Air Force has maintained a sustained ISR presence over the area to track and engage fleeing or regrouping elements.

Commenting on the operation, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the professionalism and combat efficiency of the aircrew and support personnel. He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to denying terrorists any sanctuary across the country.

The air operation forms part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in Nigeria’s North-East, as security forces intensify offensives to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restore lasting peace in affected communities.
