NAF Air Strikes Kill Over 10 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno–Yobe

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), has neutralised more than 10 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during precision air strikes in the Timbuktu Triangle, covering parts of Borno and Yobe states.

According to reliable sources, the operation was carried out on Tuesday, January 13, following actionable intelligence obtained from Nigerian Army unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The surveillance revealed the movement and gathering of ISWAP fighters along the Ambia Tasha, Ambia Sheruri, Ambia Turo and Shangamaru axis in Yobe State.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the NAF Air Component launched precision strikes targeting the terrorists’ assembly point and logistics assets, including motorcycles.

Initial battle damage assessment indicated heavy losses, with over 10 insurgents neutralised during the operation.

Sources disclosed that about 10 terrorists, alongside motorcycles and bicycles, were observed gathered under a large tree, with the possibility of more fighters concealed within the thick canopy.

The strike was executed with high precision, and post-strike surveillance showed overwhelming neutralisation, with only one individual seen fleeing the area.

The Air Component of OPHK reaffirmed its commitment to sustained air operations against terrorist networks in the Northeast.

It noted that the strikes reflect the military’s resolve to deny insurgents freedom of movement, degrade their logistics, and protect civilian populations.

The latest operation underscores the Nigerian military’s intensified efforts to dismantle insurgent strongholds and enhance security across vulnerable communities in the region.
