An 18-year-old, Malik Oluwafemi, has been arraigned by police before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over allegations of theft and actions capable of disturbing public peace.
The accused, whose residential details were not disclosed, is facing a two-count charge bordering on conduct likely to breach public peace and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to both counts.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, the alleged offences occurred between April 4 and April 8 at Delight Superstore, located at No. 19 Awolowo Way, Igbogbo, Ikorodu.
She told the court that the defendant fraudulently withdrew N550,050 from the store via its POS system, linked to a Moniepoint account bearing the name Emeka Nwogu Delight. He was later apprehended by the police.
The prosecutor added that the alleged crimes contravene sections 168(d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Presiding Magistrate, Mr. A.O. Ogbe, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like amount. He further directed that the surety’s address must be verified before the continuation of the case.
