My Son’s Defection Is Personal, APC’s Failure Is the Real Issue— Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed concerns over his son’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting the move was a personal decision beyond his influence.

Atiku said political choices in a democracy are neither unusual nor troubling, even when they involve family members, stressing that he does not coerce his children or Nigerians on matters of conscience.

He, however, turned his criticism sharply on the APC, accusing the ruling party of poor governance and holding it responsible for the deepening economic and social hardship facing Nigerians.

“As a democrat, I do not coerce my own children in matters of conscience, and I certainly will not coerce Nigerians.

What truly concerns me is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on our people.” He added.

Reaffirming his political stance, Atiku said he remains committed to working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance and present Nigerians with a credible alternative that delivers relief, hope, and progress.
