My Presidency Will Never Divide Nigeria — Obi

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has declared that he has the experience and leadership needed to unite Nigeria, dismissing claims that his presidency would deepen the country’s divisions.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics monitored by The News Chronicle, Obi said his administration would prioritise national healing and inclusiveness, insisting that every Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity or religion, deserves equal opportunities.

Responding to critics who questioned his ability to foster national unity, the former Anambra State governor said his record of supporting communities across the country speaks louder than political rhetoric.

“I will unite Nigeria, and I know what it takes to unite Nigeria,” Obi declared, adding that his presidency would begin a process of healing and reconciliation after years of division.

Obi also dismissed allegations that he had made divisive remarks against northern Nigerians, describing the claims as false.

He cited his long-standing relationships with northerners and Muslims, noting that he employed northerners in key roles while serving as governor and sponsored Muslims from Anambra State on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

He urged politicians to focus on tackling poverty, insecurity, education and healthcare rather than exploiting ethnic and religious differences for political gain.
