Veteran comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, known as Ali Baba, said Nigerian musicians have done more to raise national awareness than the country’s ambassadors.
However, he expressed disappointment that despite their contributions, the entertainment and creative industry is not included in the government’s economic plans.
Ali Baba mentioned this during a recent interview with Channels Television.
He pointed out that two years ago, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group forecasted the country’s economy for the next five years but didn’t include the entertainment and creative industry. The industry’s value was overlooked in a 200-page report.
Ali Baba emphasized that artists like Burna Boy have done more to promote Nigeria internationally than any ambassador. He believes Nigerian artists are better at creating national awareness and introducing the country to the world.
