Despite the deployed efforts of Governor Bala Muhammed of Bsuchi State to improving the education sector, with special emphasis placed on health education, the management of the once vibrant School of Health Technology, Ningi in Bauchi State, has transformed the institution to a cesspool of corruption and sexual abuse of female students.
An investigation conducted into affairs of the institution shows that even proposed intervention projects from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) tailored to improving facilities and infrastructure in the institution were not spared from the corruption spree ongoing in the institution as contractors were hurriedly reached to submit proposals as tenders for possible consideration of awards of non-existing contracts while students registration for fresh admission is another window for sharp corrupt practices including extortion.
A visit to the institution shows a bloated students’ admission exercise with overcrowded lecture halls, mal-functional laboratories and hostels.
In a chat with few of the students who pleaded anonymity, they expressed disappointment in the management staff of the institution and called for immediate suspension of the management while a probe panel should be appointed to dig deep down into the various allegations that are responsible for retarding progress of the institution
“Some of our senior management staff are, sex maniacs whom we know including those of them that maintain chains of girlfriends amongst the students.
We have been tolerant of their dubiousness because of fear. We have ways to expose their scandals but we maintain our silence pending anytime the state governor comes visiting we shall explode
“There are so many scandals rocking the foundation of this college but hidden from the governor which we shall expose for correction
“Governor Bala Muhammed as a leader deploying resources and energy to improve the education sector should be informed of the various scandals threatening his efforts in Ningi College of Health Technology”.
Meanwhile it was reliably learnt that some of the management staff of the college are contractors that handled several state government projects against the civil service rules of engagement while some are fathers to illegitimate children from female students.
