Mudryk Challenges Doping Case at CAS in Bid to Revive Career

Mykhailo Mudryk has taken his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn a lengthy suspension that has kept him out of football for over a year.

The Chelsea winger has not featured since late 2024 following an adverse drug test that triggered a provisional ban. The Football Association later charged the player, although details around the final ruling remain unclear.

The News Chronicle reports that Mudryk is pushing for a quick resolution so that he can get his career back on track. Legal proceedings are currently underway as both sides exchange submissions in preparation for a hearing.

According to reports, the case focuses on the presence of meldonium, a substance known to improve endurance, which the player is alleged to have come across during international duty. Mudryk has said he was surprised when the problem first came to light and denied knowingly consuming any illicit chemical.

Even if he hasn’t been in competition, the 25-year-old has kept training on his own to maintain match fitness in case the appeal goes his way.

His legal staff includes experts in high-profile doping cases, thereby increasing hopes of a closely monitored process. Chelsea still needs to know the final judgment; therefore, the matter is still unresolved.

The result of the appeal will decide whether Mudryk returns to elite-level football or suffers a protracted period of absence from the sport.
