Mr. President: Your Minister Of State For Defence Is Tainted—And This Is Not A Scandal

Mr. President: Your Minister Of State For Defence Is Tainted—And This Is Not A Scandal. This Is A National Security Emergency

Your Minister of State for Defence has been accused, not by enemies, not by political opponents, not by social media, but by an Islamic cleric and his own Senior Special Assistant, of not only associating and doing business with bandits, but of the following:

Funding terrorists. Buying vehicles and houses for terrorists. Purchasing livestock for terrorists. Paying terrorists with state funds. Bailing terrorists from federal custody. Empowering some of the deadliest killers in West Africa.

If even 1% of these allegations is true, it means terrorism is being financed from inside the Nigerian state.

How Serious Countries Respond

In serious countries, the rule is simple:

Step aside. Investigate. Clear your name.

That is why in USA:

  • Richard Nixon resigned
  • Michael Flynn resigned
  • Tom Price resigned

Not because they were convicted, but because public office is a trust, and credibility matters.

Nigeria’s Problem:

In Nigeria:

Resignation is labelled weakness.

Allegations are dismissed as “witch-hunts.”

Ethnicity and religion are weaponised.

Institutions are sacrificed to protect individuals.

Massacres occur, no resignation.

Billions disappear, no resignation.

Policy disasters ruin lives, no resignation.

Failure carries no personal cost.

The Hard Truth

Nigeria does not lack laws.

Nigeria lacks consequences.

Where there are no consequences, impunity becomes culture. Where impunity thrives, insecurity never ends.

The Bottom Line

This allegation is too serious to ignore and too dangerous to politicise.

An immediate, independent investigation is not optional. It is the minimum requirement of a country that intends to survive.

In serious countries, leaders resign to protect institutions. In Nigeria, institutions are destroyed to protect leaders.

Share if you believe national security is bigger than any individual.
