We have movie dates to mark on our calendars for the new month! It’s a new month and things a already looking bright for Film lovers

We have a lot more in store for this September after a month full of Yoruba epics and other culturally relevant stories.

We have excitedly anticipated a ton of movies in the upcoming month, so we want you to get your calendar ready now that they are almost here.

Not only should we keep an eye out for Nigerian stories on streaming services, but also in our local movie theaters.

Here are six Nollywood films that will be released in September:

STRAINED

The touching family drama Strained examines the difficulties of love, pardoning, and reconciliation. We follow a married couple as they adjust to the birth of their first child while the wife deals with a past trauma she suffered.

Sam Sunny, Padita Agu, Adaeze Onuigbo, Queen Nwokoye, Tracey George, and others appear in the Okey Oku film.

On September 1, 2023, Strained will make its debut in theaters.

A BAG OF TROUBLE

We still anticipate A Bag of Trouble even though it was moved from August 18, 2023, to this month.

A Bag of Trouble, a psychological drama directed and written by Mazi Chimex and produced by Collis T. Miller, tells the tale of a young man whose life comes to an abrupt halt after receiving an offer of appreciation from a powerful politician.

In addition to a large number of others, the film stars Broda Shaggi, Sabinus, Jide Kosoko, Hafiz Oyetoro, and Bimbo Oshin.

On September 1st 2023 today, A Bag of Trouble will premiere.

MAMI WATER

A black-and-white version of a West African folktale appears in the C.J. “Fiery” Obasi movie.

Produced by Oge Obasi, Mami Wata tells the tale of a community that becomes in danger when problems arise with the middleman who serves as a link between human beings and the all-powerful water deity Mami Wata.

Kelechi Udegede, Evelyne Ily Juhen, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Emeka Amakeze, Rita Edochie, and Tough Bone all appear in the film.

KANAANI

The main characters will be a couple who are estranged and dealing with the difficulties of migration, played by Gabriel Afolayan and Ivia Okujaye.

Robb Hudspeth, Ayo Kosh, and Joseph Benjamin star in the Tola Olatunji-directed and Tunde Apalowo Kanaani-written film. Star-crossed lovers’ journey and their unwavering love, which is put to the ultimate test, is depicted in a small fishing town in  Edo state.

A Weekend To Forget, the newest one from Inkblot, will take us on a trip through the lives of seven people who experience an unforgettable weekend.

Daniel Etim-Effiong, Ini Dima-Okojie, Stan Nze, Erica Nlewedim, and current BBNaija All Stars housemate Neo Akpofure are just a few of the notable actors who will appear in the film.

With this movie, Damola Ademola makes his directorial debut. The documentary addresses the dark aspects of the human psyche as well as the consequences that frequently follow pursuing your deepest ambitions.

On September 22, 2023, A Weekend To Forget will be released in theaters.

THE BLACK BOOK

Even though Editi Effiong’s much-anticipated criminal thriller The Black Book is set to be released soon, it still seems like a long way off.

When a group of dishonest police officers kill a man’s only son, he starts looking for justice, which leads to the exploration of long-buried grudges.

With Denola Grey playing his son alongside him, Richard Mofe-Damijo, who previously played the lead in this film, will be back on our screens. Along with them, we can expect seeing Ade Laoye, Sam Dede, Alex Usifo Omiagbo, Olumide Oworu, Shaffy Bello, Ireti Doyle, Taiwo Ajayi Lycett, Ikechukwu Onunaku, Patric Doyle, Bimbo Manuel Femi Branch, Kelechi Udegbe, and Nobert Young.

On September 22, 2023, The Black Book will be available on Netflix.
