Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has admitted that he would have considered leaving the Spanish giants if he were in Vinicius Junior’s position, suggesting that the Brazilian forward deserves to be respected.
Mourinho, who praised the winger’s character and personality, described him as a spectacular individual and revealed that he makes time to speak with the player privately on a daily basis.
“Vinicius is a spectacular guy, and it’s easy to have a good relationship with him. I spend a few minutes alone with him every single day,” Mourinho said.
The Portuguese coach explained that, in Vinicius’ position, he would probably have pushed for a move to another country where he felt more respected.
“If I were Vini, I probably wouldn’t still be here. I would have pushed for a move to a country where I’d be respected,” he stated.
Despite his hypothetical decision to leave, Mourinho acknowledged Vinicius’ strong attachment to Real Madrid, crediting the forward’s loyalty and love for the club for his decision to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“But out of loyalty to Real Madrid and love for the club, he stayed,” Mourinho added.
The Madrid manager also praised the Brazilian’s optimism, noting that the forward continues to believe his situation can improve while maintaining his trademark smile.
“He believes things can get better, and he keeps that smile. There is nothing and no one that could ever take it away from him,” Mourinho said.
Vinicius has established himself as one of Real Madrid’s most influential attacking players, playing a significant role in the club’s successes in recent seasons.
