Troops of Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), working alongside the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers during an intelligence-led operation in Jegalari Village, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, carried out on 23 July 2026 by troops of the 233 Battalion based at the Damaturu Military Cantonment, followed credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected criminal gang, The News Chronicle gathered.
During the raid, security forces recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to have been used in the suspects’ criminal operations.
The five suspects are currently in military custody along with the recovered weapons and other exhibits as investigations continue to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist and criminal networks across the North-East through sustained intelligence-driven operations. The military also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or activities to security agencies, stressing that timely and credible information from the public remains crucial to ongoing efforts to improve security across the region.
