Military And NSCDC Deepen Partnership to Boost Security in Yobe

The Commander of Headquarters Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Edet Effiong, has reaffirmed the Nigerian military’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to enhance security and stability in Yobe State and the North-East.
Brigadier General Effiong gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving the newly posted Yobe State NSCDC Commandant, Hassan Owuna, during a courtesy visit to the Headquarters Sector 2 in Damaturu.
The Sector Commander commended the NSCDC for its role in protecting critical national assets and supporting civil authorities, stressing that effective collaboration among security agencies remains essential in tackling terrorism and other security threats.
He noted that the longstanding partnership between Operation HADIN KAI and the NSCDC has improved operational effectiveness through intelligence sharing, joint planning, coordinated operations, and capacity building.
According to him, sustained inter-agency cooperation is key to consolidating the security gains recorded across the North-East.
Brigadier General Effiong also pledged to strengthen the partnership through regular joint training, professional exchanges, and integrated operations, while urging both organisations to continue protecting schools, markets, critical infrastructure, and other public facilities.
In his response, the Yobe State NSCDC Commandant, Hassan Owuna, appreciated the Nigerian military for its continued support, particularly in providing regimental training and operational guidance to NSCDC personnel.
He pledged to build on the existing relationship and reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to working closely with Operation HADIN KAI to maintain peace, protect critical infrastructure, and improve public safety across Yobe State.
The visit ended with the signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph, symbolising the renewed commitment of both organisations to deepen inter-agency cooperation in support of national security and lasting peace in the North-East.
