Mica Miller, the wife of South Carolina Pastor John-Paul Miller, was found deceased in a body of water at Lumber River State Park on April 27 as per information from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office ruled her death as a suicide after a thorough investigation involving surveillance footage, interviews, physical evidence, and examination by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office.
On the day of her disappearance, Mica was captured by a doorbell camera leaving her home in Myrtle Beach around 11:38 a.m.
Later that day, she called Robeson County from Lumber River State Park, and her vehicle was subsequently discovered at the scene. An individual informed investigators about a bag near the water containing Mica’s identification, leading to the discovery of her body in the water.

Authorities revealed that Mica and John-Paul were in the process of divorcing and were estranged at the time of her death. Despite online speculation and conspiracy theories about Pastor John-Paul being responsible for her death, the sheriff’s office emphasized the methodical nature of their investigation and the reliance on factual evidence.
There were allegations of abuse made by Mica against her husband, which were documented in an affidavit filed by her younger sister. However, John-Paul has denied these allegations and attributed Mica’s struggles to mental illness.
John-Paul Miller, who was reportedly at an athletic event in Charleston on the day of Mica’s death, declined to attend a meeting with police in North Carolina, indicating through his attorney that he would not travel there.
Sheriff Burnis Wilkins addressed the tragic outcome, stating that while there were numerous factors reviewed over an extended period leading up to the investigation, ultimately, Mica made a tragic decision that ended her life.
John-Paul Miller informed his congregation of Mica’s death during a service, urging them not to discuss it within the church. He acknowledged Mica’s mental health challenges but denied any involvement in her death.
