Meta has introduced a new video editing app called Edits, following the removal of ByteDance’s CapCut from major app stores amid the TikTok ban.
The app will launch on iOS next month, with an Android version planned later.
Instagram’s Adam Mosseri shared that Edits is designed for video creators, offering tools to enhance creativity.
Features include an inspiration tab, idea tracking, a high-quality camera, and options to share drafts with collaborators. Creators can also monitor video performance on Instagram after posting.
Meta’s history of seizing opportunities, like launching Instagram Reels after TikTok’s India ban, suggests Edits is aimed at capturing creators seeking new tools during CapCut’s absence.
