Meta Unveils Enhanced Privacy Features in WhatsApp Beta

—

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has announced the introduction of two significant privacy features in the latest WhatsApp beta version, aimed at providing users with greater control over their conversations.

In the beta version for Android, users can now lock chats on companion devices using a passcode.
This feature ensures that conversations remain secure even if the device is unlocked.
Users must set a secret passcode on all companion devices, which must match the passcode on the primary device. Additionally, biometric authentication can be used to protect and unlock locked chats.
On iOS, WhatsApp is introducing the ability to privately mention specific users in stories.
This feature ensures that the content is visible only to the mentioned individuals, enhancing privacy for users sharing stories.
In addition to these features, WhatsApp is testing further enhancements such as displaying an end-to-end encryption badge and relocating the navigation bar to the bottom for easier access to menu options.
These updates reflect Meta’s ongoing commitment to prioritizing user privacy and security on WhatsApp. Users can anticipate a more secure and seamless messaging experience as these features are gradually rolled out.
