Professor Segun Aina has been appointed as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), set to succeed Professor Is-haq Oloyede when his 10-year tenure ends on July 31, 2026.
1. His JAMB Journey Started During NYSC
Before rising to become JAMB Registrar, Aina once served in the examination body during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where he gained firsthand experience in admissions processing and institutional operations.
2. He Is A Serial Entrepreneur
Beyond academia, Prof. Aina co-founded Fluid Click Solutions Ltd in 2010, an IT services and engineering project management company. His business interests span EduTech, agriculture, hospitality, TVET, and capacity development.
3. He Studied In The United Kingdom
The computer engineering expert earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, United Kingdom, in 2008.
4. He Is One Of Nigeria’s Youngest Professors
Aina became a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, at just 39, making him one of the youngest professors in Nigeria’s engineering sector.
5. He Has Published Nearly 30 Academic Papers
The incoming JAMB Registrar has authored close to 30 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, contributing significantly to research in engineering and technology.
6. He Belongs To Several Professional Bodies
He is a COREN-certified engineer and a member of major professional associations, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Computer Society (NCS), IEEE, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
7. He Holds Executive Management Certification
In addition to his engineering background, Aina attended the prestigious Senior Management Program at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University.
8. He Lectures At OAU
Prof. Aina currently teaches in the Department of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he also serves in several faculty and departmental roles.
9. He Has Held Key Governance Positions
He previously served on the pioneer Governing Council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, and also chairs the Advisory Board of Queensland Academy, Lagos.
10. He Turns 40 In July
The incoming JAMB Registrar will celebrate his 40th birthday in July 2026.
