Mediators Qatar and Pakistan say progress has been made in indirect talks between the United States and Iran aimed at advancing a framework agreement to end the Iran conflict.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said late Wednesday that the latest round of negotiations in Doha recorded “positive progress” on issues related to the framework agreement reached two weeks ago.
The talks were conducted indirectly, with Qatari mediators holding separate meetings with negotiators representing both the United States and Iran.
In a post on X, Al-Ansari said the parties had agreed to continue discussions in the coming weeks, with the next round of talks to be scheduled as soon as possible after the funeral ceremonies for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Khamenei was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in late February.
According to Iranian media reports, the funeral ceremonies will begin on July 4 in the capital, Tehran, and the holy city of Qom.
He is expected to be buried on July 9 in his birthplace, Mashhad, in northeastern Iran.
