Manchester United sweats on injuries ahead of their trip to Liverpool

Manchester United's injury

Manchester United could be without key players when they travel to Anfield to play their 17th league game of the season. The latest and possible absentee could be the English duo of Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

Bruno Fernandes will miss the blockbuster tie via suspension. The United captain received his 5th yellow card of the season during their 0-3 defeat at Old Trafford to Bournemouth.

Following their defeat yesterday against Bayern Munich, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said there’s need to assess the injuries suffered by England internationals Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

Maguire was forced off in the first half of the game against Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich, while Luke Shaw could only play 45 minutes and didn’t return for the second half following his replacement by Aaron Wan Bissaka.

Ten Hag asserted that he could not provide an update on the injury of the English due, but an assessment will be made to ascertain their availability before the Liverpool tie.

“I can’t say at this moment,” Ten Hag admitted, when quizzed on the matter by TNT Sports. “We obviously have to wait 24 hours, and then we will have an assessment and diagnosis, so we have to wait for it.”

We will provide another update when available, with our next Premier League assignment on Sunday, away to leaders Liverpool in a 16:30 GMT kick-off.”
