Selling Woman’s Nudes After Failed Blackmail Attempts

A man identified as Chinedu Ezeudu has been arrested for allegedly selling nude pictures and videos of a woman on social media.

The suspect, a native of Ndi Ikpa village Ezinato community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State was accused of leaking the materials after attempts to get money from her through blackmail failed.

The man allegedly sold the nude videos of the young woman to persons who requested it for N3,000.

The man was arrested after the victim made a report to the office of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Children’s Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo.

Media aide of the commissioner, Miss Chidinma Ikeanyionwu said: “The victim said she lost her memory card in March, 2023, but was later chatted up by the suspect in June, with a request for huge amount of money in order not to leak the nude videos.

“When she refused to pay, the suspect threatened to post the video on all social media platforms but was confronted by the husband of the victim and asked to delete the video. Before then he had already duplicated it.

“The suspect went ahead to release the video on Facebook, Whatsapp and other social media platforms, including selling them at the N3,000 to those who requested.

“When the incident was reported to the office of the commissioner for women and social welfare Anambra State by the victim accompanied by Hon Ejike Okechukwu, the suspect was quickly arrested by the Anambra State Police Command.”

Ikeanyionwu added that the suspect, currently in police custody would be arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Court in Awka once investigation is concluded.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon Ify Obinabo in a reaction to the development, urged ladies to desist from making nude videos of themselves and to resist such attempts by lovers who ask for nude videos as a confirmation of their love for them.

Obinabo lamented the extent of damage caused by the simple act of sending one’s nudity to others.

“Men, Women and youths in general should resist the urge of making their own nude videos.

“Despite how careful one is with his/her privacy, certain things should not be taken for granted especially making such videos.

“I call on adults to rather enjoy themselves when they want to,than making videos of themselves naked, which may get into the wrong hands.

“I remind everyone that the present Soludo administration abhors crime and criminal activities and my ministry is read to tackle such crime to the barest minimum.”
