Man kills his father with Cutlass in Kwara State

—

In the Ifelodun local government area within Kwara state, a 23-year-old individual named Saidi Musa Elemosho stands accused of committing a heinous act by violently assaulting and causing the death of his father, Chief Musa.

The deceased, who held the esteemed title of Elemosho of Share Land, fell victim to this tragic incident.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) presented in court, Saidi allegedly committed the heinous act because he felt his father was cursing him without any apparent reason while they were in the sitting room.

Apparently angered by his father’s words, Saidi reportedly took a cutlass and repeatedly struck him on the head until he succumbed to the injuries.

Following the gruesome incident, Saidi fled to a mountainous area in Share, attempting to evade the authorities.

Certain members of the community express strong disapproval and condemnation towards the young man who has committed the grievous act of killing his own father.

These residents are vocal in their criticism, denouncing the boy’s actions and expressing their collective disapproval of such a heinous act within the community.

However, he was eventually apprehended and brought before Magistrate Muhammed Dauki to face charges of culpable homicide.

During the court proceedings, the police prosecutor, Sergeant Abdullah Sanni, argued that the nature of the crime, being culpable homicide, made it inappropriate for bail.

He urged the court to consider an ex parte motion attached to the FIR, requesting that Saidi be remanded in a correctional facility.

In a brief ruling, Magistrate Dauki acceded to the prosecution’s request and ordered Saidi’s remand.

The court scheduled the next hearing for January 9, 2024, allowing time for further investigation and legal proceedings to unfold.

The tragic incident highlights the severity of the charges against Saidi and the complex legal process that will follow in the quest for justice.
