Man Flees Terrorists’ Camp, Rescued by Soldiers in Plateau Operation

A kidnap victim who escaped from a terrorist hideout in Plateau State has been rescued by security operatives and reunited with his family following a clearance operation in Wase Local Government Area.

Security sources said troops of Sector 2, Operation Enduring Peace, working alongside personnel of the Civilian Security Initiative (CSI) Battalion XIV, intercepted the victim during a clearance operation in Yuli Village, Wase LGA, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The victim, identified as Mallam Musa Muhammad, was reportedly discovered after fleeing from the terrorists’ enclave where he had been held captive.

Preliminary findings revealed that Muhammad, a native of Pikat community in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, was abducted by suspected Fulani bandits in April 2026 while in neighboring Bauchi State.

After successfully escaping from captivity, he was intercepted and secured by troops conducting the operation.

Security personnel subsequently debriefed the victim to gather intelligence on the activities and operations of the criminal network before reuniting him with his family.

The rescue forms part of ongoing military efforts to curb kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes across Plateau and adjoining states.

Military authorities have continued to intensify intelligence-led operations and clearance missions aimed at dismantling criminal camps, disrupting armed groups and improving security in vulnerable communities across the region.
