Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has delivered a defiant message to Premier League rivals after the club was found guilty of the majority of charges in its long running financial regulations case.
Soriano reportedly told executives of other European clubs that City would continue fighting the case, insisting that the process is far from over.
The News Chronicle reports that the City chief made the remarks at a European Football Clubs board meeting in Copenhagen ahead of the organisation’s general assembly.

According to the Press Association, Soriano told executives, “It’s taken eight years to get here and it’s going to take a lot more time,” referring to the Premier League investigation that began in 2018.
City were charged with 115 alleged breaches, including claims involving sponsorship revenue and payments made to circumvent financial regulations. The club was recently found guilty of the vast majority of the charges and is expected to appeal.
No sanctions have yet been announced, but City could face a points deduction, a heavy fine or even expulsion from the Premier League.
Soriano left the meeting without taking questions from reporters, while chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has insisted that the club remains confident of proving its innocence.
The Premier League has declined to comment as the case continues.
