Make That Call!

The dawn of a brand new year! Make that phone call, make that visit. Too early to start procrastinating. Make that phone call, make that visit. Don’t shift, don’t postpone, stop all excuses that would discourage you. Hold down all excuses, however plausible and make that phone call and make that visit.

Don’t wait till 14th of Febuary to show love. Easter period or Christmas shouldn’t be the only time to either call or visit as it is always our character, sending good wishes, not even personalized, but forwarded, lacking in connection, in love, in affection and in warmth that should exist between brothers and sisters, friends and loved ones. Make that phone call and make that visit, don’t shift it, don’t procastinate, we all need one another!

Nobody is an island, we all need one another. None is self sufficient without others, nothing thrives in the absence of all of us. We live in community, in it our existence finds value and the worth of our essense meaningful.

Life is nothing without the “spirit of us” the “WE spirit” is a spirit of communalism, living in the joy, happiness and compassion of one another. The year is too early for excuses and procrastination. Let the fire of our bond and philia love not burnt into cold ashes, at all times let it be rekindled with calls and visits. Make that glow of the embers of our relationship consistent. It Shouldn’t be allowed to go down. Fan it into flames with calls, make it sparkle with visit, our humanity and shared love should not be allowed to get cold.

Make that phone call, make that visit, money isn’t everything, the least, far below good human relationship. Make that visit, look into their eyes and see their worries, their pains, their disappointment, their discouragement and their love. Hold their hands and feel their warmth, give them that hug money cannot buy.

Make that call , make that visit don’t wait again, too long you have proscastinated, get off your rules, principles and make that visit. Make that visit to that poor guy in your church, fellowship and association. We may look different in status, but humanity makes us one.

He may look rich and poor, but humanity makes us one. He may look handsome, beautiful, cute, and ugly, but humanity makes us one. Christainity isn’t a name, it is a lifestyle, it is relational, it is symboitic, it creates no barriers, no segregation, no partisanship, one equal mould of love for all. Anything short of this is neither humanity nor Christianity.

Pick your phone and make that call of “how are you?” “How is your business?” “What are your plans for the year?” “How can I help in achieving your plans?” Make that visit and share a meal, a glass of water and jokes. It is not about food and money, there is joy profound when our humanity is activiated through geniune concerns.

Life is too short, too transient and futile. Putting smiles on people’s faces while they are alive should be a priority. Your pity, sympathy, charity, and love shown in death may be good, but it is best shown while alive.

Break that jinx, make that call, make that visit, life without others is meaningless. Calling you always to ask after you doesnt mean I need favor. A visit to connect and catch up doesn’t mean I am less. My excitement warming up to you makes me no less. I am just being human, needing nothing else but same show of love and warmthness in equal reciprocity without making me feel less or needy.

Like a bird one can’t fly with one wing of affulence, poverty, lack , abundance etc the other wing of others is required if one must fly. Humanity is a religion, if practiced well would make all happy even in our inequality. Make that call, make that visit, it is nobody’ exclusive right, a shared responsibility of our humanity. Nobody is an island.

We need one another at all levels. No tree stands alone and answers a forest, nah! Make that call! Make that visit!! You can’t tell how refreshing, rejuvenating, and rebuilding hope, love, and affection can make an already forlorn soul feel. In our collective share of love, affection, care, and concern, our humanity is better expressed, and our Christianity made more visible in real-time.

Nobody is valueless without a value to give, and none is too valuable without a need for a value. Make that call, make that visit. It may be a soothing balm, a delightful wine for a soul to make merry in the midst of travail.

“A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to save them from starving. They all have food in their own homes. When we gather together in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so.”
― Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart
