Under the leadership of the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Army, soldiers have been working tirelessly to evacuate residents from the worst-affected areas, transporting many to safer locations, including military barracks. In addition to offering shelter, the Army has also provided food items to the evacuees.

The Nigerian Navy has played a vital role in the evacuation efforts, utilizing their boats to rescue people stranded in flooded areas.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force has deployed helicopters to airlift residents trapped in difficult-to-reach locations, such as those under flyovers, where the floods have severely limited ground movement.

Despite the military’s commendable efforts, residents have been vocal about the government’s slow and insufficient response to the disaster.

Many feel abandoned by the authorities, as the floods continue to wreak havoc across Maiduguri, leaving countless families homeless and desperate for help.

The situation has highlighted the gap in emergency preparedness and disaster response in the region, with the military stepping in where government agencies have fallen short.
