Luton, Sheffield, and Burnley FC Have Been Relegated to English Championship

The relegation of three English Premier League clubs—Luton Town, Sheffield United, and Burnley FC—has been confirmed following the completion of matchday 37 in the English Premier League.

Unfortunately, they were the three clubs that got promoted to the top tier last season and will return as they couldn’t survive in the top tier.

Their relegation was confirmed after they all lost their 37th games today. Luton Town, whose relegation was confirmed today, would be a point adrift of Nottingham Forest, who occupy the 17th spot should they be able to win their last game.

They were defeated by the Hammers in a four-goal thriller match.

In their message on their official Facebook page, it says:

“A heartwarming reception at full-time inside London Stadium.

Thank you for your support on the road this season, safe journey home.”

Despite Burnley initiating an early lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they fell to a full-time 2-1 defeat to their host in today’s Premier League game which confirms their 37th game involvement this season. With 24 points attained, Burnley won’t be able to move away from the relegation zone even with a win in their final round.

They affirmed their relegation and thanked their supporters by staying with them regardless of the difficult time:

We’re spending next season in the Championship. It’s the end of a chapter, not the end of the story. Thank you for your continued support.”

Sheffield United’s relegation had been confirmed even before today’s game. The Chris Wilder’s soldiers encountered a slim 1-0 defeat at the Goodison Park. Sheffield United recorded the most defeats (27) and fewest games won (3) in this campaign.
